Quality & Accreditation
Joint Commission Accreditation
The Menninger Clinic is committed to quality healthcare. Proof of this commitment is our accreditation by the Joint Commission. When you use a facility accredited by the Joint Commission, you know that it meets rigorous standards that keep pace with the ever-changing advancements in healthcare.
Joint Commission is a private, not-for-profit organization that has evaluated the quality of facilities for its report card to consumers for over a century. Menninger voluntarily undergoes a survey by a full team of Joint Commission experts every three years.
Additionally, in support of its mission to continuously improve the safety and quality of healthcare and clinical outcomes, Menninger conducts a periodic Performance Review to ensure continuous compliance with all local, state and federal standards.
Texas-Nurse-Friendly Designation
Further proof of our commitment to quality healthcare is the Nurse-Friendly designation award, presented to Menninger in 2007, by the Texas Nurses Association. The Nurse-Friendly designation confirms Menninger’s commitment to an ideal nursing work environment by having in its practices, policies and culture essential elements that support the kind of nursing environment where quality care can be delivered.
Menninger is the first freestanding psychiatric hospital in
Texas
to achieve this designation.
To achieve the designation, hospitals must first document that 12 criteria of an ideal practice environment as identified by research and nurses are present. The 12 criteria represent qualities that are important to the highest quality of patient care, nursing practice, professional development and nurse job satisfaction. To achieve the designation, hospitals must also conduct a confidential, voluntary survey, asking nurses to confirm that the criteria are indeed present in the facility. Nearly 90 percent of Menninger nurses participated in the survey, which required 75 percent participation.
