Camille Lloyd, PhDCamille Lloyd, PhD

Dr. Lloyd supervises administrative and clinical aspects of the program and provides such services as group and individual therapy for patients in the Professionals in Crisis Program.

Dr. Lloyd’s clinical interests include depression and posttraumatic stress disorder. She has a particular expertise in providing mental health services to physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers.

She has consulted with the business community on issues such as improving workplace communication, enhancing employee satisfaction and providing assistance and clinical services to employees coping with traumatic incidents in the workplace.

In addition to her clinical and teaching interests, Dr. Lloyd has been an active researcher. She has published extensively on stress among health professional students and the mental health problems they exhibit. Other areas of research include the study of psychosocial risk factors for depression, including the study of stressful life events, personality factors, parenting experiences during childhood and social support.

Dr. Lloyd believes in increasing the availability and excellence of care to those whose own abilities and position may make it difficult for them to recognize and admit the need for help, or who are often concerned about the potential ramifications of their seeking mental healthcare.

Dr. Lloyd was previously an administrator and long-time faculty member at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and served as a professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical School. She also was the founding director of the Student Counseling Service and was responsible for mental health services for more than 3,500 health professional students and graduate students pursuing careers in medical research.

Dr. Lloyd is a summa cum laude graduate from Brigham Young University where she received a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She received master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from the University of Arizona where she was also elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

As medical director, Dr. Stolar  leads a multidisciplinary team for the Professionals in Crisis Program. She and her team assess and treat  men and women in business ownership, upper management, medicine, sports, law, entertainment, education and other high-performance fields who are experiencing difficulty managing their career and relationships because of a psychiatric disorder, addiction, demands and stressors.

She is board certified in psychiatry and forensic psychiatry.

A 1990 graduate of Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Stolar was Director of Residency Training and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland Ohio.  Her previous faculty position was at the College of Medicine, University of South Florida, where she was assistant Professor of Psychiatry. She chairs the American Psychiatric Association Committee on Psychiatry in the Workplace.

She has participated in numerous lectures, presentations and research seminars nationally and internationally providing expertise on subjects ranging from workplace issues like disability to posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Her postgraduate studies included: Baylor College of Medicine and Affiliated Hospitals Residency Program in Psychiatry, Houston TX; Clarke Institute of Psychiatry, University of Toronto, Toronto Ontario Canada, Fellowship in Suicide Studies; University of South Florida College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals Psychiatry Residency, Tampa FL; and Case Western Reserve School of Medicine, University Hospitals of Cleveland, Cleveland OH, Fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry.

Dr. Stolar has received the following awards:

Her special interests include psychiatric education, forensic psychiatry, psychiatric disability, psychosomatic medicine and posttraumatic stress disorder.
